Toward a Carbon-Free Delta
As part of Egypt’s national efforts to promote environmental sustainability and transition toward a green economy, Damietta Sustainability Week was held under the theme
Toward a Carbon-Free Delta,
under the patronage of Damietta Governorate.
The event brought together government officials, experts, academic institutions, international organizations, and private sector leaders to support the shift toward clean energy, reduce carbon emissions, and advance sustainable urban development.
Role of Damietta Governorate
The event was attended by Prof. Ayman El-Shahabi, Governor of Damietta, who emphasized the importance of integrating environmental sustainability into local development plans, with a clear vision to transform Ras El Bar into the first carbon-free city in the Nile Delta by 2026.

Maryzad’s Participation
Maryzad, solar energy experts in Egypt and the region, was honored to participate in Damietta Sustainability Week following an official invitation from Damietta Governorate, reflecting the alignment between the event’s objectives and the company’s vision.
Maryzad contributed to the week’s activities by raising awareness about solar energy solutions and participating in the accompanying exhibition, showcasing global solar energy products for which it is a certified distributor in Egypt and the region.
Collaboration with Smartova
Maryzad’s participation took place in collaboration with Smartova, its executing partner responsible for the on-ground implementation of solar energy projects in Damietta, highlighting the importance of bridging strategic planning with real-world execution.
Horus University Participation
The week also witnessed the participation of Horus University, emphasizing the role of academic institutions in promoting environmental awareness, supporting clean energy initiatives, and linking scientific research with practical sustainability solutions.

Damietta Sustainability Week concluded by reaffirming that building a greener and more sustainable future requires strong collaboration between government entities, private sector companies, academic institutions, and international organizations to turn sustainability visions into actionable projects across the Nile Delta.
